01The House

Not just coffee. A slow room in a fast city — for early rituals, late conversations and cups made with unreasonable care.

Three cups worth crossing the city for.

Developed at our slow bar over five winters. Each is built around a single idea — and served exactly the same way, every time.

A day at Umbra

04Our Story

Built for the hours in between.

Umbra began in 2019 as six stools and a borrowed espresso machine beneath a Soho print shop — a place for the hours the city forgets.

We roast every Tuesday in small batches, buy directly from twelve farms we know by name and pay well above market for every lot. Our milk comes from a single herd in Somerset; our croissants are laminated downstairs at four in the morning.

The room is kept deliberately low-lit — stone, walnut, brass and candlelight. No music louder than a conversation. No rush, ever.

  • 01

    Sourcing

Direct trade with twelve growers. Every lot traceable to the farm.

  • 02

    Roasting

In-house, every Tuesday. Never served older than 21 days.

  • 03

    Craft

Every shot weighed and timed. Every jug of milk steamed to 62°C.

  • 04

    The Room

Designed for staying: soft light, deep chairs, no timers on tables.

“Good coffee asks you to slow down. We simply built a room that lets you.”
